COC I just got back from the Carr fire area . between Redding and Whiskeytown Lake just devastation. I went to the Leweston road to work on a low bed. There was some fire burning by the road, evidently it made it to a 1/4 mile of Leweston and they think that part of the fire line will hold. lots and lots of powerline trucks planting new power poles. quite a sight. A lot of heat put off by the manzanita bushes.

Article in Sat. paper. The "Carr" fire tornado spun 143 mph winds, 35,000-foot-tall plume per National Weather Service. Yes the ash from that night had pieces of tree bark. They are thinking this is the largest fire tornado in Calif. history and perhaps the strongest ever recorded.
Could the WTB&TS 'spin' this as part of the last days?

I am in Redding . Last Thursday the fire moved with a speed and intensity rarely seen by firemen, right in to the city.
I listened to GM parts man tell someone that it was Armageddon. Another parts man went through the evacuation from sheriffs loudspeakers say "get out now" when the fire was on the other side of canyon, of which he said he was truly scarred.
Actually I am headed out right now to work on a utility truck in the fire zone.
A bit of history; the area burnt is covered with "manzanita" brush, burns REAL hot. the area was de nuded of vegetation by copper smelters over a hundred years ago. Just another example of man's foot prints on the earth.

JW culture of "informers" is very similar to Communist China under Mao
by TerryWalstrom infirst, let's look at what counsel is published by the watchtower and required as proper behavior in the congregation.. *** g88 9/8 p. 20 should i tell on my friend?
***understandably, you may not feel you have the spiritual qualifications to readjust an erring friend.
but would it not make sense to see to it that the matter is reported to someone who is qualified to help?

Read Barbara Anderson article" Flawed Decree Conceals Criminals" "Watchtower docunents.org" as she researched Lev.5 :1. She used it in the A&E program on Romy Maples. Learn something new.

Good to see you have not completely missed the boat. Connecting with your folks is the wisest thing you could of done. You are going to avoid a lot of regrets, and be able to show wife and in laws you are maturing into a real father yourself.
You have perfect timing here. What you watched going on in Australia is a game changer for the WTB&TS. From my perspective 2013 was a turning point for the Organization in many ways but all the different moves they made centered around the molestation issue. The point everything turned on was a lady Candace Conti, nothing has been the same since she broke the molestation barrier.
My input would be relax do not think you need to make any major stand right now. just key into your father in law. Even he a long time elder should be growing apprehensive as to the money moves being made at a time when he was expecting the "Great Tribulation" . Watch him close! Hopefully he was from my generation who came through the 1960's and is a solid man. If he starts questioning, then he will be open for discussion of issues raised in Australia. You could very well have some interesting conversations. Your connecting with your parents is will demonstrate a maturity on your part.
I had a couple of people tell me that the Watchtower don't even try to enforce the shunning of families in the LA Ca. area among the Mexicans. Mexicans DON"T shun families! May by they know something the rest of us don't know.

I watched PBS "American Experience" 3 part WW1. The theme was President W. Wilson. They dealt with how he was the most religious president ever had, with the highest moral principles. Yet when he entered the war he was the centuries greatest suppressor of human and civil rights. Being as to how he needed to mobilize an entire nation for war in the shortest amount of time. He was far more effective at suppressing dissent in the shortest amount of time than Hitler or Governing Body.
The point being; the imprisonment of Rutherford and others, we were taught was a real act of courage for the reason of their speaking out "hard hitting waters of truth" . When the reality was that they were hardly heard. Anyone who said anything against the war would have the same fate. Now this is not a new point as I have heard before how Rutherfords imprisonment was anything but special but just a reality of the time and Wilson's policies. It was just a powerful program as to how governments mind control people to do things that they would not normally want to do. A lot of WTB&TS style Lev.5:1 informant policy going on, to where people were afraid of neighbor.
The spin that was put on Rutherford's imprisonment had an impact on our minds when we were on the inside. What struck me was the exact same spin is now being put on the Canadian Supreme Court case on disfellowshipment.
Just a interesting history program which dealt with mind control.

Just finished Barbara on A&E she quoted from her article "Faulty Decrees Conceal Criminals" posted on Watchtower Documents. You folks should take a couple minutes and read the article. Her quote was that Lev.5:1 required a witness to a crime to report the crime to police.
Her research revealed that Ray Franz was the writer who misapplied Lev.5:1 which was a surprise to me.
The elder mentioned who was disfellowshipped 5 times over a 30 year period, was Henderson of Red Bluff 25 miles down the road from me. According to Randal Waters on this site he lays the blame on Merton Campbell who sat on the northern California Service Desk which Barbara said was probably the same guy who screwed up the $4.250.000 unregistered securities fraud in Redding [1989] that was the beginning of my story.
Her article is a good read.
